Jen's Review

Well this sets up nicely for the next book .... lol

I really did like this book though -

Brooke was a girl who was trying to go somewhere in life. She didn't have the greatest past, but she was determined to make her future the best she could.

When her boss told her to meet with the multimillionaire and talk with him about work stuff (Sorry I can't even remember why she went there in the first place) She was put off and edgy when he showed up late. And not only that, he didn't show up personally, he sent someone else in his place! She got up and told the guy who was shamelessly flirting with her to let his boss know she would do business with him only.

Brooke's BFF Shaye just lost her job - so she needed someone to go drinking with. Brooke knew drinking with Shaye was a bad idea, but Shaye had a way of talking Brooke into anything.

When Brooke woke up the next morning with the mother of all hangovers - she was shocked to find those glowing green eyes looking down at her.

A little freaked out, she did what any other girl would do - told him to get out.

Jett isn't your normal every day guy - working for his father, making millions upon millions of dollars sweet talking rich folks into selling their land so he can make a huge profit off of it. it's what he does best.
But when he first see's Brooke, he knows there is more to her.

When Brooke gets to work with a huge hangover and all, she finds out she now has a new job - and she is to go there right away.

When she gets to the new building, she's shocked - she doesn't have any idea why she's hear, but to be a personal assistant to a guy she's never met, she is determined to make the best out of this job as she can.

She learns that she need to go to Italy to meet up with her boss for a 2 week trip. They are on the verge of landing a big deal, and he needs her there right away.

When she gets to the hotel, she runs into Jett again. Was he stalking her??

They leave to go to his house out by the lake. No sense in wasting company money on a hotel, right :)

When they get there, they try hard to work - but the attraction they have for each other is really making it impossible for them to think of anything else.

So, a document was drawn up - and they get to have sex - lots and lots of sex :)

Like I said, cute story - it was fun to read. I love those big strong alpha guys who wont take no for an answer. And those fragile girls who have had their heart broken too many times to trust anyone else.

Just brings the romance a little stronger - but don't worry, it's not all romance - there is something strange going on at home, someone is hounding Shaye trying to track Brooke down.

Can't wait for the next book. I'm curious to find out how things play out :)

Conquer Your Love will be out on June 1st, 2013.

Eluding kidnap and trying to stay alive, can Autumn find the strength to be the person she longs to be? And can two people, poles apart, forge something strong enough to survive anything

Excerpt:

“Room service,” the voice called from outside in the hall.
“Please, tell me you didn’t order fucking room service,” Nathan hissed to her.
She was shaking, loitering by the bathroom door, not knowing what to do. She shook her head at him. His eyes were on her all the time. She’d not had the means to call room service even if she’d wanted to.
Nathan reached out and put his hand on the doorknob, preparing to open it. Autumn took a step back into the bathroom and squeezed her eyes tight shut. What should she do? She’d not been in a situation like this before. Should she pick up something to use as a weapon? There was a choice of a toilet brush or a razor she would have to unwrap from its plastic wrapping. She heard the door open, flipped her eyelids up and took a deep breath, waiting.
“Room service, Mr. Martin. Two full English breakfasts,” the voice announced.
“You must have the wrong room. I didn’t order breakfast, and I’m here alone. The name’s  Shepherd,” Nathan replied.
“Oh, I do apologize, sir. I’ll go check the order with the kitchen. Sorry for any inconvenience.”
“Not a problem.”
She heard the door close and Nathan practically ripped the bathroom door from its hinges as he came to find her.
“We’re leaving. Get everything you came with. Leave nothing,” he ordered.

He’d noticed the black transit van pull into the car park earlier. Two men had left it. One returned fifteen minutes later and had been sitting in it ever since. The man seemed to be reading a newspaper, but he also kept looking at his watch and checking his rear view mirror. It wasn’t normal behavior for a normal person. It was, however, normal behavior for someone in a similar line of work to his.
Autumn was counting aloud as she checked and re-checked the small room. She didn’t have anything apart from that bloody purse and the stupid fucking designer hat, but he had to ensure she was alert to everything he said. The next time he asked her to get her stuff together, it might be a life or death situation. For now, they only had time against them.
She muttered to herself, breathing like an exhausted greyhound, gripping the purse as if it could save her life just by being close to her chest. Suddenly, he felt sorry for her. Yes, she was an irritating spoiled bitch, but looking at her now, all he saw was a terrified young woman. A beautiful, terrified young woman.

“Now, you do exactly what I say, is that clear?” he barked at Autumn as they waited at the fire exit that led out toward the car park.
Her head was spinning, she felt sick, and she had a run in her stockings. She couldn’t stop looking at it as it seemed to be growing by the second.
“Autumn, you need to listen to me if you want to stay safe.” Nathan took hold of her wrist.
She raised her head to meet his eyes with hers, and she nodded like a programmed robot.
“Right. Now, when I open this door, I want you behind me, holding on to my belt, head down, making for the car, okay? Don’t look up, just walk quickly and keep hold of me,” he said.
“You think there’s someone outside, don’t you?” Autumn asked through chattering teeth. “That’s why you were looking out the window.”
“That’s my concern, not yours. Head down, make for the car, keep hold of me,” he said again.
He took her hands and pressed them to the leather belt at his waistband.
His shirt wasn’t quite tucked in properly, and her fingertips touched the skin at his back. She shut her eyes and bit her teeth together, preparing herself for everything and nothing, all at the same time.
She felt him push the bar on the door, then, all at once, he strode off. The speed of his movement surprised her. She clung to his belt and tried to keep up with his pace.
She kept her head down, looking at the ground as Nathan hurried them toward his car. Paving stones turned into gritty tarmac. Her fingers chafed on the leather belt she suspected wasn’t really leather, and her heart beat a fast flamenco in her chest.
She heard the car door open. Nathan turned to face her, took her hands off his waistband, and pushed her down into the car. She clutched her purse and blinked to refocus on the outside.
Suddenly, a flash went off in her face, and a camera appeared at her passenger window. She let out a scream of terror, her hand instinctively reaching for the lock on the door. She couldn’t breathe, and her heart was racing again, but she watched as Nathan tackled the photographer to the ground and drew his weapon.
The paparazzo looked terrified. His eyes bulged, and with Nathan’s left hand around his throat and his right directing a gun at his temple, it was hardly surprising. But Autumn looked again at the photographer, and this time recognized him. He was paparazzi. He’d photographed her many times, and he was one of the faces she saw in the crowd at all her personal appearances.
She unlocked the car door and tentatively stepped out. “He’s a photographer,” she stated to Nathan.
He had his knee in the middle of the poor man’s chest, probably cutting off his air and crushing his rib cage.
“Having a camera doesn’t make you a photographer. Get in the car, Autumn.”
“I’ve seen him before,” Autumn said as she leaned over him. “He’s paparazzi. He’ll have ID. If you get off him, he can show you.”
He attempted to nod his head despite the restrictions on his neck, but Nathan held firm.
“Let him go, for God’s sake, you’re hurting him,” Autumn said.
The photographer was starting to splutter, and his face was turning an awful shade of mauve.
“Get in the car, Autumn. That’s an order,” Nathan spat, turning to face her.

Jen's 5 star review

WOW! I read Taking Charge by Mandy Baggo - and I really enjoyed that one , but this one was off the charts!

This book is more than a romance book - this book really has you at the edge of your seat!

I've always loved the movie "The Bodyguard" with Keven Costner and Whitney Huston - But if you didn't like that movie, You'll still like this book - it had some similarities as the movie - but trust me, the book is way more than the few similarities.

Autumn is a Rock Star - she's good at what she does, and she loves it. But as any Rockstar book you've read in the past - sometimes the fans, the fame, it gets a little overwhelming after awhile.

The book starts off with Autumn getting the rundown of her schedule by her BFF and PA Janey - But Autumn had to make one quick stop to visit with her mother before heading to the studio - if she put off this drink with her mother, it would turn into a dinner and take all night. Right now she could make it quick and as painless as possible.

Her mother had arranged for Autumn to have a private bodyguard. Why? She had her own security team that she used when she needed to. But her mother had insisted. And just as Autumn was going to tell her mother off, she saw him.

Nathan... Nathan is a good guy. He believes in Truth and Honor, and sometimes doing things his own way to make sure that it happens this way. But he gets the job done. He didn't want the job of babysitting some spoiled rich pop star, but he owed a favor, and was determined to do the job right...

Nathan takes Autum away from her world in order to keep her safe. There is more to this than Autumn knew about.

In order to draw things out, Nathan had Autumn throw a party and invite everyone she knew.

Autumn found out who her true friends were, especially when she was almost kidnapped and her producer was killed while she was being forced into a van!
Luckily Nathan and his team got there in time - but the damage was done.
and it was about time Autumn learned the truth .....

WOW! There is just so much MORE to this story! The Truth - it's a biggie - and just when you think something is going to happen, something else pops up. And at the end - holy COW! Be warned - that ending is just.. WOW! That's all I'm saying :)

Jen's review

Cute story. it had a strong beginning. but felt rushed at the end.

I did enjoy it though. I haven't seen a lot of books about female Domme s. It's nice to see a strong woman taking the lead...

Mistress Lydia loves the imperfections of her subs. , She didn't want to deal with the subs who were spoiled and rich and didn't have to work for anything.

When Master D showed up at her club. she was shocked.

She had turned down his job offer. But when he started throwing money around at her boss, even her best friend. She found herself trapped into working at his club on a trial bases.

All she needed to do was get through the 30 day trial.

But it wasnt easy. with Damon looking the way he does.. those dimples.... and the way his eyes smoldered her. She wanted to submit to him. But her pride wouldn't let her.

Damon didn't know what it was but watching Mistress Lydia with her sub was more than he could handle. he wanted her and she wanted him.

Domination in Pink

Domination in Pink by Holly S. Roberts
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This novella is a sequel to One Dom at a Time but can be read as a short and kinky stand alone.

Lydia is pregnant with her first child and Damian, her hot and horny Dom husband, can’t keep his hands off her. Her baby thickened body desires rough play but Damian wants to worship every fluffy inch of her slowly. When not in the bedroom, Lydia is a sought after Domme in her own right. Can she bring her private love toy around to her way of thinking or does she need to pull out the big guns and practice Domination in Pink?

Warning: This book contains graphic sex, strong language, content that may be objectionable to some but perfect for others. BDSM, bondage, lactation play, anal play, and luscious male bodies at work.(

Jen's review -

so cute! I love seeing the big strong Dom not know w how to deal with his little girl :)

this book takes place shortly after the first book. if you didn't read the first one. I think you'll be ok. but getting to know Damon and Lucia was the best part.

Abigail was brought into this life by her daddy's hands. And nothing could be more perfect in Damon's life than his family.

settling into the routine for new parents is hard on anyone. but living in the BDSM lifestyle makes it a little harder to adjust. Throw in the 150lb over protective Rottweiler and gay sub, let's just say this whole family thing is hard work.

but Damon is determined to make everything perfect.
As time moves forward Lydia starts to heal and craves. She's ready to be No s tress Lydia again. And she wants her Dom back in her dungeon

Like I said. really cute story :)

Piercing a Dom's Heart (Club El Diablo, #2)

Piercing a Dom's Heart by Holly S. Roberts
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Brandon Edward Sterling IV inherits his father’s corporation before he's ready to settle down. He works grueling hours and follows the accepted path of society’s socially elite. After the end of his engagement with an aristocratic debutante, Bran gives into his nontraditional sexual fantasies found at the El Diablo BDSM Club.

She’s spirited and curious, has messy braided hair, piercings in places that drive a Dom wild, and she's ready to explore her submissive cravings. She’s also unacceptable in the wealthy world of Wall Street’s rich and famous.

But, can Willow Pierce a Dom’s Heart and prove that acceptability isn’t required in the bedroom?

Piercing a Dom's Heart is book II in the Club El Diablo Series but can also be read as a stand alone.

Warning: This book contains graphic sex, strong language, content that may be objectionable to some but perfect for others. BDSM, bondage, voyeurism, genital piercing and luscious male bodies at work.Fun series. I read them out of order but overreach one. But I think Damon and Lydia will always be my favorite in this series :)

Jen's Review -

This book was about Bran and Willow. Damon's best friend and his sister.

There wasn't much details about how Damon found his half sister but she came to him in Huston looking for a job. she wanted to be closer to her brother. The only family that cared about her.
The only problem was Willow was disturbed by the BDSM scenes. which made waitressing there a little difficult.

Bran is over stressed work and needs a break. taking a week off to go play at the club seemed like the perfect way to unwind.

When Bran first ran into Willow,he was walking with Damon. She was refusing to sub for another Dom.

Bran was intrigued by how beautiful this goth checkpoints. but he was thrown off by her piercings. everywhere!

Damon didn't want to see his sister exposed but Bran was right there telling him it's not up to him how she lives.

Willow continues to gripe about the “abuse" going on in the club. And Bran is determined to change her mind.

Cute story. I'm in love with Jenny. Brian's sassy assistant. Wonder if we'll see her again :)

Touched by a Dom (Club El Diablo #3)

Touched by a Dom by Holly S. Roberts
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Sir Kyle’s need for pain terrifies all but the kinkiest submissives. The willing screams of his subs ring through the walls of Club El Diable.

Trisha is new to the BDSM lifestyle and has never experienced the big “O” with a man. Her vibrator does the job better than her last boyfriend so who needs more?

Kyle’s dark secret keeps him from training new subs but he’s hot to test Trisha’s limits.

Can Trisha survive the painful ecstasy Kyle administers when she’s Touched by a Dom?

Jen's review -

I read this out of order, but after reading about Kyle in the first book, and then again in Pink Domination, I had to read his story next :)

I totally love the BDSM books with the Dom that doesn't usually take on new subs, but when he sees her, he can't help himself.

And I really love the brand new subs who walk into the place not knowing what they're walking into.

This book had both.

Kyle isn't a slow, fun loving Dom who is looking to please his sub's sexuality kinks - Kyle gets off on Pain. Good hard pain that most people can't handle. So why would he even think about taking on a new sub that has never experienced anything in the BDSM world?

Trisha is in a rut . she just got out of her first real relationship and he was a horrible lover. Didn't do anything for her at all in the 2 years they were together.
So when Gloria talked Trisha into going to El Diablo, she couldn't tell if she was more excited or scared.

Trisha talked to a few of the subs in the club and a couple of the Dom's. Anxious to learn new things. So far she couldn't see anything that made her too excited.
That is until Master Kyle walked over to them and told her he wanted her to reserve a spot with him tomorrow night.

Gloria told Trisha that Kyle was bad news. He was into the lifestyle for more pain that Trisha was looking for.
But Trisha didn't know what she wanted.

When she started watching a scene played out by Gloria and another Dom, she felt embarrassed and started to leave.
That's when she felt Master Kyle behind her.
Within mins he gave her something she had craved more than she realized she craved. And that was when she knew she'd be back.

I totally loved this story. Kyle didn't change for her. Just because she was new to the lifestyle, didn't mean that he was going to take it easy on her. But he wasn't going to scare her away either.

Explaining how everything works and how he does things. Letting her know that her body belongs to Him.

Step by step, slowly he introduces her to his lifestyle and she slowly becomes aware of how he enjoys his subs.

The only thing that bothered me in the book was the ending.. not the very end, that was fun - but the part where Trisha finally excepted and got the full idea of what she needed to do for him. it happened too fast and didn't explain why she all of a sudden got it.
Don't want to throw out a spoiler here, but maybe you'll understand what I'm talking about when you read it :)

Enjoy!!

Falling Into You by Jasinda Wilder

Falling Into You
Falling Into You by Jasinda Wilder

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I wasn't always in love with Colton Calloway; I was in love with his younger brother, Kyle, first. Kyle was my first one true love, my first in every way.
Then, one stormy August night, he died, and the person I was died with him.

Colton didn't teach me how to live. He didn't heal the pain. He didn't make it okay. He taught me how to hurt, how to not be okay, and, eventually, how to let go.

Excerpt from Falling Into You

It was just a single sob at first, a quick, hysterical inhalation. Then a second. And then I couldn’t stop it. Tears, a flood of them. I felt the sand grow cold and muddy under my face, felt my body shuddering uncontrollably. He didn’t tell me it was okay. He didn’t try to pull me against him or onto his lap. He kept his hand on my shoulder and sat silent next to me. I knew I wouldn’t be able to stop. I’d let go, and now the river would flow un-dammed.
No. No. I shook my head, clenched my teeth, lifted up and let myself fall down hard, sending a spear of pain spider webbing out from my arm. The pain was a drug, and I accepted it  greedily. It was a dam, stemming the tide of tears….

Jen's review

Just .. *sigh* Wow -

This story was so much more than I thought it would be. I was expecting the sorrow that would bring me to tears, but not while I was on my Sunday drive with my family :) That was embarrassing :) These were not just little tears that I thought it would be this was full blown sobs that had my husband telling me to put the book down!!!

I don't even know where to begin. you read in the Blurb that Nell falls in love with her best friend from birth. Literally. They were only 2 days apart born in the same hospital, living next door to each other - and growing up as best friends. Until she turns 16 and her dad lets her date. The first time she gets asked out, Kyle goes berserk! At first Nell couldn't figure out why Kyle was so upset, but then he tells her it was always her for him. After a long run, she couldn't see herself on a date with Jason anymore. She just saw herself with Kyle. But what would that mean for their friendship?

Sometimes when BFF's move onto the next stage, things only get better. And for Kyle and Nell that was how it was. 2 years later, they're still happy - until they're not.

Racked with Guilt and sorrow, the one thing she cared about was taken from her, and it was her fault. Should wouldn't let herself grieve. She wouldn't let herself forget - so she held it in. Letting no one know the truth of what happened, letting no one know just how badly she hurt. She would never let anyone, even herself loose his memory.

At his funeral, She runs off to hide her feelings, get some control before facing others again. That's where Colton finds her.

She's only met him a couple of times. He took off right when he graduated. Kyle hardly spoke about him, he was never around, but there was something about him that helped take her mind off what happened, just for a few moments.

But it didn't last. 2 years later, she's still seeing everything that happened as it haunts her dreams. Real life has taken it's tole on Nell, and she's having trouble dealing with the pain.

When Colton is off playing music - his biggest passion, he sees' her again. This time he's not going to let her run off.
He follows her home. He see's how she feels, and knows there is more to the story of what happened that night. She still carries it around with her.

Colton's life wasn't great. Things at home weren't wonderful, and when he left to come to New York, he had $5 to his name. He couldn't find work, and he had no friends or family to help him find a home.
Living in the streets harden Colt. He became fearless. But there was also pain and guilt living inside of him.

He knew he oculdn't fix Nell, but he know what it was like to hit rock bottom. He just wanted to help her live again.

Yeah . Like I said - DEEP! I'm still sobbing after that last song he wrote at the end of the book - you'll know it when you read it.

This story really got me thinking. I'm use to those HEA stories where everyone gets married and has kids and runs off into the sunset laughing.... but after this - we know life is hard. You'll always carry those who you loved with you in your hearts. It's ok to love again. it's ok to laugh again. But it's also okay to feel sad sometimes too. And to morn, and to feel guilty. But as long as you have someone with you that makes you smile. Living with the guilt and sorry helps you to move on.

I hope I didn't say too much - I don't think I gave any spoilers away - but if I did, I'm sorry - it wasn't my intetnion...

I STRONGLY recommend this book to those that liked other serious type romance books, like Hopeless or The Sea of Tranquility and The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden -

I couldn't decide which trailer I liked better - The first one was the one that I saw that convinced me I wanted to read the book - the second one I saw after I finished my review :)

Twisted Perfection by Abbi Glines

Twisted Perfection (Too Far, #3)
Twisted Perfection by Abbi Glines

Life outside of her house was a new experience for Della Sloane. The dark secrets of her past weren’t something she ever intended to share with anyone. They would never understand. No one would ever get close enough to find out. Besides there was always a chance she’d go crazy sooner than they expected…

Woods Kerrington had never been one to be attracted to fragile females. They seemed like too much work. He wasn’t in it for the work just the pleasure. A night full of naughty fun had been exactly what was on his mind when he’d laid eyes on the hot little number that didn’t know how to pump gas and needed some help.

What he didn’t know was she was as fragile as they came.

The carefree girl who spoke her mind and didn’t care what the world thought of her was more breakable than he could ever imagine…

Jen's Review

I know I say this just about every time, but I really think this is my favorite couple out of all of Abbi's books :)

Woods is the biggest sweetheat - you get to know and love him in the first two books of this series, but you don't really KNOW him until he falls in love.
Woods life is complicated. He's his father's puppet. In order to move forward with the Country Club , he has to marry Angelina - but why would he want to marry someone he doesn't love?  Because Woods grew up only knowing and wanting the things that were supposed to be his. But his father dangled it in front of him with the threat of taking it away if he didn't marry Angelina.

Out of the blue one day Woods stops for Gas and comes across this really sweet beauty who doesn't know how to pump gas.... LOVED this first meeting!

Della is one messed up person. The things she had to go through when she was so young just makes me want to cry for her.
Mental Illness runs in her family. Her grandmother, her mother, and now her. She feels normal most of the time, but she has triggers that cause her anxiety attacks  not to mention the dreams she wakes from every night.
She doesn't want to be this way, but she has excepted her future. She knows she can't rely on anyone else either.
When her Best friend Braden runs off for her honeymoon, she gives Della her car and told her to go find out who she is..
Della took off - but she had never had to pump gas before. She's only been driving a short time.
That's where she meets Woods.

Woods takes her out for a quick meal, then brings her back to her hotel for the night.
A One night stand is about all he could afford. He knew he had to ask Angelina to marry him. But he needed to get a few things out of his system first.

4 months later, Della is in a new town, Dallas. She is so sweet and trusting. Wanting nothing more than the love she missed out on when she was younger, she falls for her boss. Only he's married. With a baby on the way.  Della gets furious!

Tripp - I LOVED Tripp! I want a book about him (lets all ask Abbi really nicely if she can give us his story. He didn't want to be alone anymore!)
Tripp was a friend of Della's who worked in the bar with her. He didn't know she was bound for  a heartbreak so soon, but there is something about Della that just screams PROTECT ME!
Tripp offered her his condo in his home town. Said his cousin Jace (WE LOVE YOU JACE!) would talk to the boss and help her get a job at the Club and she could stay there for as long as she needs to get away.

When she enters the little town of Rosmary again, she is shocked by the  coincidence.
Once she is settled in, she goes to the club to talk to the boss about a new job. Not knowing it's Woods, she was thrown back when he ran into her.

Woods couldn't believe his luck - he had been thinking about her for months! He knew he should let her work somewhere else. He wanted to be selfish and keep her close, but he had to marry Angeline and Della was a big problem....

REALLY Loved this story. Della has a lot of problems. Mentally she really needs help.
There was a good ending, but still those little words at the end that ticked me off "Look for part two of their story in the fall of 2013"
It was unfinished - there is so much MORE that needs to be dealt with, so I'm happy to know there will be another book coming out ... wish it was sooner rather than later :)

Jen's review

Cute story!
I've never been a huge fan of the merfolk, but the way Heather detailed her side of the ocean was great!

Going through her first break-up with her first love, life at 17 seemed to be at it's worse for Ever. Her brother has been getting moody and her best friend is finally with the guy she has been wanting to be with for a couple of years.. who is also best friends with her ex - and watching Michael with his new girlfriend?!?! GAH!

Ever tries her best to pretend like she's ok. for everyone else's sake.
But when the new guy shows up and sits in Michael's old seat in class, she can't help but feel excited as those little shivers of electricity run though her body. That can't be real!

Not only is the new guy hot - he's kind of weird. She saw him at the lake the other day. She was swimming, and something had caught her eye from the water. Sneaking up, she saw this same guy laying on his back with light coming out of his hands?!? Seriously? Was she imagining it or what?

Jack feels the same electric charge when they're close together. and when they actually touch? WOWSERS!
There is defiantly something about Jack that Ever doesn't know.

When Jack ask's ever to drive up to the ocean with him, she gets even more excited. She had never been to the ocean before.
Swimming for competition was what Ever loved. Being in the water was just refreshing for her.

Things couldn't be more perfect. Until she opened her mouth and started asking questions. Jack was very truthful with his answers.
And he told her about his life under the water.

Well yeah that's a bit much for anyone to take in. but then he throws in the big whopper... She's just like him. When she turns eighteen in a few weeks, she is going to have to make the ultimate decision. To live on land, and forget she knew about the Merfolk, or join the sea folks and forget about her life on land.

Thta's going to be a hard decision for any girl her age. But luckily her Gram-aw was the same as she was, and was able to help her make her decision... well pretty much Gram-aw demanded that Ever stay on the land and have nothing to do with the Mer-folks again.

But Ever didn't know if she could stay away from Jack.

The dreams were getting more intense and she had no idea what they meant. But she knew she couldn't leave Jack. Not when he needed her the most.

I loved the world Heather Allen created under the water. This isn't just a girl turning into a fish and living happily ever after. She has her work cut out of her. No one wanted her in the sea - there is something bout her that scares all the others, and they will stop at nothing to make sure she doesn't cause problems.

Looking forward to the next book. there is a bit of a cliffhanger at the end, - well ok it's very unfinished and I'm ready to find out what happens :)

Barely Breathing (Just Breathe Trilogy #2)

Barely Breathing book #2
by Heather Allen
Ever Harding used to believe in love. That is until she was left heartbroken by the only person she ever really loved, Jack, the mysterious boy from her history class. Little did she know he was born of the sea, on land to watch over her. But was he really? She made the ultimate sacrifice, to live in the sea as a mermaid, for Jack and for love. But she found that in the end, that love wasn't enough.

Now she finds herself alone, having to make a huge choice. She must decide whether to defend others against the choices she has made or fight for the freedoms of a population, she has just become a part of.

Ever's brother James, became a part of the sea not by any choice of his own, but he is willing to embrace it as long as a certain long legged, beauty is by his side. But as his sister found, things are not always as they seem.

In the end what they feared the most comes to reality, the battle, waged between staying true to life in the sea or changing a race of people to become more powerful and diverse. Will Ever and James survive the lines drawn in the sand or will they have to battle each other for what they believe?

Little do they know the battle in the end, will be something entirely different than what they were ready for.

Excerpt:
As I climb the steps I notice the bench swing moving. I glance over and see Sara with one leg dangling over the edge and the other pulled under her. She's reading again. She must not have heard us pull up because she hasn't looked up yet. I stand there and take in the sight. Her wavy, golden hair is hanging across her face. One hand is touching her pink lips as if she's deep in thought. And that leg, just peeking out of her dress, it goes on forever. It's moving the swing just slightly.
She must feel my eyes on her. She glances up and notices me. She jumps as if I startled her. My eyes meet hers. I could get lost in them, like they're a mirror of the ocean. She pushes her hair behind her ear and closes her book looking down over the edge of the swing to find her shoes and slips into them as she climbs off the bench.
As she walks slowly toward me I glance away and fumble with my keys, trying to unlock the door. She reaches out her hand to stop me. I glance back down at her.
"How long were you standing there?"
I shrug my shoulders, caught, "Not long."
She licks her bottom lip, I can't help but notice. Something in me does a tumble and I suddenly can't breathe. She takes her hand away from my keys so I look down trying to find the right one. Ugh, how long does it take to open a door? Finally, I find the key and open the door letting her go first. I stand there for a few seconds longer trying to catch my breath.
Damn James, get it together.

Protecting What's His by Tessa Bailey Review

Protecting What's His (Line of Duty, #1)Protecting What's His by Tessa Bailey
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

She’s running from the law, and the law wants her bad.

The opportunity was just too damn delicious for Ginger Peet to pass up. The purse full of money she finds—$50,000 to be exact—could give her and her teen sister the new start they need. So she grabs the cash, her gothy sibling, and their life-sized statue of Dolly Parton, and blows outta Nashville in a cloud of dust. Chicago, here we come...

Turns out, Chicago has some pretty hot cops. Hot, intense, naughty-lookin’ cops like Derek Tyler, who looks like he could eat a girl up and leave her begging for more. And more. Tempting as he is, getting involved with the sexy homicide lieutenant next door poses a teensy problem for a gal who’s on the lam. But one thing is certain—Derek’s onto her, and he wants more than just a taste.

And as far as he’s concerned, possession is nine-tenths of the law.

Jens' Review

Great story! I really liked it.

Ginger and her sister Willa are kids of a neglected mom - white trash to the core. Ginger has been taking care of her sister since she was a baby. Feeding and clothing her, steeling and begging neighbors - it wasn't easy.

Now that Ginger is 23 and Willa is 17 , Ginger gets the opportunity to take Willa away and start over. Leave behind their mother's drug addiction and male suitors. But in doing so, Ginger would have to take the money she see's poking out of her mother's purse.
It's a LOT of money. She knows it's Illegal money.
Ginger is a good girl, and knows that Karma will bite her in the butt if she takes the money, but she just doesn't seem to care.

Moving to Chicago was the best and the worse thing that could ever happen to them. The worse, being the cop that lived across the hall. Sexy drop dead gorgeous Derick.

Derick is a good guy. Trying to prove he's worthy of the promotion from detective to Lieutenant.

Derick is a strong alpha male type who is determined to get what he wants, when he wants it, and how he wants it. And that includes Ginger.

Now Ginger grew up taking care of her sister, and determined to do anything and everything NOT to become like her mother. She knew how to flirt with guys to get better tips at the bar she worked at, but that was about all the knowledge she had with guys.

But the feelings that Derick stirred up inside of her made her want to learn more.

The instant attraction between the two, the fighting to keep feelings separate from actions, the steamy passion when they lose all control.

Really a fun story to read :)

Assets (Balance Sheet, #1)Assets by Shannon Dermott

Assets (Balance Sheet, #1)Assets by Shannon Dermott
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Warning ~ This book contains adult language and sexual situations. Not suitable for anyone under eighteen.

Bailey Glicks, an accountant, is all too aware of her asset value. She’s pretty but not beautiful, smart but not a genius, and certainly she thinks she is more than enough for her fiancĂ©. All that changes when she catches his cheating ass in a lie.

Needing to get away and start anew, she heads to New York to stay with her best friend and former college roommate, Lizzy who has more than enough space to accommodate her. What she didn’t bank on are two things.

First, Kalen Brinner, a man whose implied wealth and attractiveness on paper, shouldn’t be interested in her. But their combined sexual attraction sparks off like fireworks. Will it be enough to sustain a relationship, especially when circumstance makes one of them appear less than trustworthy? Can they survive the heat or will they combust in the flame of their own passion?

Second, when the assets in audit she’s working feel like they’ve been tainted with fraud; her supervisor isn’t buying her theory.

And if she’s wrong about either, both could make her lose big. One her heart. The other her job.

Please note: THIS IS NOT INTENDED AS A STAND ALONE NOVEL. This is a serialized miniseries.

Juls Review
Ms Dermott,
BRAVO!!!! This one is truly a winner. It had me squirming in my seat!

One questions, how do I find me a Scottish Billionaire? ;)

WOWZA!!! This one had me all sorts of bothered and in a good way. But this book had more than just amazing sex.

Bailey is just your average girl. Was hurt by a man she trusted and now she is trying to pick up the pieces and move forward with her life. She is currently living with BFF Lizzy and working an audit for a big company. Its not an ideal job but it'll last her for a few months. Or so she thought. Money is disappearing from multiple accounts that Bailey is auditing and now she's being threatened.

Kalen oh my sweet Kalen. Where have you been all my life??? sighhhhhh
He meets Bailey at a new years party and before you know it they are all hot and heavy and counting down into the new year with a mind blowing explosion!!!!

The chemistry between them is undeniable and they fit together perfectly. They still have a lot to work out and I really hope as the series moves forward they will find some sort of peace. They are too right not to be together.

Even though this was a bit predictable I still loved it. I kinda figured right away who Kalen was. But the end, crap! I need more! I cant wait until I can go back into the world of Kalen and Bailey.

Highly recommend!!!

Juls Review
First off, I have to thank you Adriane for allowing me to read your book.

It was full of lots of angst and I thrive of that shit! The angstier the better. But I felt very cheated when I finished. I really felt as though Carter and Eva needed more time to sort through their relationship. Yes the sex was hot and amazing but that’s not what makes a relationship. They didn’t communicate like they should have. They just rushed through it all and when they ran into a problem they just had mad angry yet hot and sweaty sex. I really didn’t know where their relationship stood and still don’t even after finishing the book.

During the time Carter and Eva were in Aspen I had really hoped that Carter would surprise Eva with having her bestie Cate and her parents come up but that didn’t happen. I know they needed the time away but they were living in a fantasy and what they really needed was dose of reality.

I was very happy with the way things ended especially for Eva. Eva got something she never thought was possible and it was truly a miracle.

Dare Me Forever by Paige Edward

It’s the beginning of her new life . . .

Twenty-three year old Amy Miller has been responsible for her little brother ever since their dad dropped dead and their mom took off six years ago. Now that her brother is eighteen, Amy's ready to fulfill her dream of opening her own stationary store.

But the past has a way of sneaking up on you . . .

Then an old friend comes back to town--Amy's high school boyfriend, Hunter Morgan, to be exact. The same guy who dropped her a week before prom, leaving her a sobbing mess in a sequined Jovani dress. The same gorgeous man who now wants Amy back and won't take no for an answer.

And the future has a way of getting complicated . . .

But when Amy meets Ryan Anderson, an irresistible Brit and powerful businessman tied to Hunter's company, their instant attraction and chemistry awakens a passion in her she never knew existed. Ryan is dangerous and sexy, pulling her deeper into a new world of desire where anything goes, while Hunter is determined to use all his old tricks to posses her again—body and soul. Soon Amy is torn between her incredible first love and the most desirable man she has ever known, but is she just a pawn in a wicked game? And if she surrenders herself to passion, will she be left a loser in love all over again?

*Ages 17 plus, due to sexual situations and mature content*

DARE ME FOREVER is a fantastic, sexy debut from Paige Edward. Amy is a heroin I can easily relate to, and Edward has written two very delicious men--Ryan is my new book boyfriend!

Excerpt

A pensive look crossed over his face, and then disappeared.  There was definitely something else he wanted to say about himself, but then thought better of it. “So I mostly just think of new projects to work on.”  His eyes found mine.

“Am I the new project?” I asked suggestively.

“Do you want to be?”

I bit my lower lip.  I’d never been so sassy, but damn it felt good.  “What would it entail?”

He closed the space between us, and put his finger to my mouth, gently tracing my lips.

“How about this?” he asked, taking my face in his powerful hands and kissing me. I melted into him, my lips tingling with excitement.  He had that end of day stubble on his cheeks, and the hair gently tickled my face.

He pulled away, his eyes studying me. “Or this?” He lowered me onto the blanket, leaning down to meet my lips again.  All I could do was whisper, “Uh huh,” as he ran his fingers again over my lips and down my neck to where my shirt fell open.

With his other hand, he began gently stroking my thigh, while looking into my face. His fingers felt electric against me, even with the thick denim between us. I wished I wasn’t wearing jeans so I could feel his skin on mine.

“God, your beautiful,” he murmured.  I smiled up at him.  This—the picnic on the beach, the kissing in complete public—was so not like me. And I loved it.  What had I been doing all my life?

He laid down beside me and I moved to turn towards him.  “No, stay there,” he ordered as he began to slowly graze my breasts with his hand.  My nipples were instantly hard, and as he teased them, he kissed the side of my neck.

If I didn’t stop this soon, I was going to come right there on the beach.  There weren’t that many people out at this time of night, but still, I wasn’t sure I wanted it to happen so publicly.  But there was nothing I could do: there was no way I could get myself to stop Cliff’s manly hands from working their magic.

He squeezed my breast.  It was almost painful, it felt so good.  I turned my face towards him.  His lips again met mine, but this time, he parted them with his tongue, and slowly began to kiss and suck me as he played with the rest of my body.  I groaned against him. But he hadn’t yet touched me between my legs.  I wanted him so badly it hurt. My body kept bucking for his hand to reach down and bring me to full satisfaction.

Jen's Review -

This was a cute story -
I wasn't too impressed with the style,  When I first started reading it, Amy came off as a hard worker. She grew up raising her little brother after her dad passed away and her mom left them at such a young age.
She grew up too fast. But her teenage years wasn't all that bad. She found comfort and love with Hunter, a family as the Morgans welcomed her and her brother into their home, sharing their meals and hearts with them.

But then after Luke goes away to college, Amy is home alone without a responsibility of taking care of someone else. It's just her. She opens her own Stationary store, and everything seems perfect.

When Hunter comes back into her life, she starts to think that maybe she should take a chance. All these old memories stirred up so many emotions of how they use to be when they were together in high school.
She wanted that back.

But while at a bbq at Hunter's parents house, Hunter is occupied by someone else.

When Amy heads down the familiar path to their guest house, she see's a really good looking guy just looking out at the ocean.

They have a small conversation before Hunter shows up again.
But that didn't do much for Amy, because all her thoughts were on Ryan.

Ryan is the new guy in charge of Morgan inc. They didn't want people to know that they needed financial help, so Ryan agreed to keep quiet about his status. But he was still in charge.

The new big project he was working on with the Morgans kept getting side railed and problems after problems kept coming up.

Ryan wasn't impressed with Hunter's work. He couldn't feel sorry for a guy who had everything handed to him his whole life. If anyone would know about hard work and starting from the bottom and working his way up, Ryan would. And he wouldn't let anything get in his way of losing a deal.

But when Amy started popping up in his head instead of work, he knew he had to "do something" to get her out of his system. He didn't have time for relationships.
