A Beautiful Lie by T.E. Sivec

A Beautiful Lie (Playing With Fire, #1)
What do you do when you find out your whole life has been a lie?

He saw her first, but his friend made the move. She settled for the safer choice, but her heart knew the truth.

They love, they crave, they lie.

Garrett McCarthy, Annabelle Parks, and Milo Roberts were as close as friends could get. They shared in each other's joy during graduations, promotions, and engagements. They consoled one another through heartache and loss.

When one of the friend's life is tragically cut short, it's up to the two left behind to pick up the pieces and find out the truth - no matter the cost. As they slowly start to uncover the nature of his deception, and the very powerful people behind it, they begin to question everyone and everything including themselves.

Everyone has secrets - some do it for love while others do it for power. Those secrets can change perceptions, alter reality, and sometimes destroy lives.

Juls Review

You may know Ms Sivec as the author of the Chocolate Lovers Series.  I bet you remember how you laughed so hard you pissed a lil in your pants or was unfortunate enough to spray some kind of drink outta your nose.  Well put all that aside and prepare yourself.  This story takes you on a journey of lies secrets and betrayal your head will spin from all the twists and turns.

Three friends who became family are torn to pieces when they get news of one of their own.
When you think you know the truth about Milo you are proven wrong time and time again.  When you think you know anything about Parker you really have no idea who or what she is.  When you think Garrett should get the girl, you may be right or are you?  Can he learn to trust?
Friends are hurt and then turn to lovers and when you think you know the truth its only half of what you may think you know.

I'm afraid if I gave anymore than I already did in my review I would give away parts and pieces of a story that is just beyond amazing. You really need to read this for yourself to get the full affect.

I commend Ms Sivec on a job well done.  She wasnt the author of just another funny book but that her talents go far beyond that.  She far exceeded my standards with this story.  Its definitely a must read!

Jen's Review

WOW first book in my favorites folder for 2013 :)

First of all, I have to give a HUGE round of applause to the author of this book - Reading Seductions and Snacks and then this.. I swear it was like a different person was writing this book! It wasn't even a little bit like her other books, writing styles, or anything!

Not only did she make this book different, she kept it flowing. I didn't feel shorted out on anything in this book. most thriller type books will blast through the battle at the end in 2 pages. If you blink you miss how it happened.
This book totally gave you the full effect all through-out the whole book. Nothing was short changed at all!

Now on to the book itself. WoW! In case you didn't catch that. I did like this book. A Lot :)

The book starts off with Parker sitting at the coffee shop minding her own business, when in walks 2 guys. And both guys look at her and their friendship starts right there.

A few years later (I think it's 8 years later) Parker and Milo are engaged to be married. Garrett is still best friends with both of them.

But life with Milo isn't all that wonderful. Parker doesn't love him. But she feels safe with him. After what happened to her with her dad, she vowed she'd never fully give her heart away to anyone. She just couldn't bear that kind of love. So she kept her life simple. Not getting close to anyone.

So she knew she would be safe being with Milo. But towards the end, things got worse. She always could count on Garrett when she and Milo fought. Garrett was the kind of friend she trusted more than she wanted to. But he was always there for her. helping her.

Parker has a secret. You find out early on in the book what her secret is, but it's kind of cool in the beginning trying to figure out what it is, so I don't think I'm going to tell you what it is.. lets just say that Parker isn't who everyone thought she was...

Milo and Garrett are Navy SEALS and are good at their jobs. They do have to take off on secret missions every now and then. Parker knew not to ask questions, so she didn't.

Parker worked as a freelancer photographer. She traveled all over for photos and she was published and very popular. So her secret wasn't hard to keep a secret....

That is until Milo gets killed and Garrett wants to find out what really happened to his best friend.

Going undercover into the Dominican Republic, posing as a news reporter and interviewing the President was the plan. But somehow Parker wormed her way into coming a long to help out.
When Garrett flipped out with the Commanding Officer, we find out that Parker is right where she needs to be.

Garrett gets pissed and storms off. Trying to think WHY Parker would be a good choice to come along on an extremely dangerous mission.

Parker knew telling Garrett that truth was going to hurt him. They have been best friends for a long time, and they always told the truth. But he was just going to have to get over it, because she wasn't about to blow her shot at finding out what happened with Milo.

SO off then went - oh and the best part, Any female entering the Dominican has to be accompanied by her husband... and guess who is playing the part of her truly beloved :)

YES I loved this book! These two were supposed to be together from day one. But they both stepped aside from their feelings. They were brought together and knew they were going to have to push the limits of their friendship past that boundary. But is their friendship strong enough to pretend like it's all an act??

Seriously - READ THIS BOOK!
