Because of You (Playing with Fire #2) by TE Sivec
Release Date: April 29, 2013
Brady Marshall has made a career of playing it safe. When he decides to do something rash and becomes a Navy SEAL, he thinks he's finally escaped the rigid structure of the high society life his parents forced down his throat. All he does is trade in one set of rules for another. He follows military protocol to a T, but it still results in the death of an entire team of Navy SEALS and puts his best friends directly in harm's way. He’s struggled to stay afloat and not drown in grief, guilt, and booze, but he's losing that battle quickly. When his baby sister flees her abusive husband and shows up on his doorstep with his young niece in tow, he has no choice but to clean up his act. He will stop at nothing to protect them and never let them down again, even if it means taking a job that goes against everything he believes in. If protecting a pop star princess who thinks she's better than everyone means he can keep a roof over their head, what other choice does he have?
Layla Carlysle has lived a life of luxury. She's been a star since the young age of fifteen, and every record she releases shoots straight to the top of the charts. She has people surrounding her every single day telling her how amazing she is, how beautiful she is, and how lucky she is, but she’s never felt more alone in her entire life. She wants nothing more than to break free and do what she really wants to do: write her own music, sing her own songs, and find a way to finally be happy with her life. The only thing standing in her way is her mother, Eve Carlysle. Eve has controlled every single aspect of her daughter’s life and will stop at nothing to achieve fame and fortune, even if that means using her daughter to get there. When an overly-amorous fan’s letters become increasingly more sinister, Brady will have to suck up his opinion of how the other half lives to take the job seriously. The pair will need to learn to trust each other and put aside their differences before the letters become a reality and someone’s life is in jeopardy.
Brady has been to hell and back, and he refuses to let anyone else get close to him again. Layla has never lived her life for herself, and the emptiness is threatening to break her for good.
Sometimes our lives are already planned for us, but because of you, all of that could change in an instant.

Jen's Review -
Well folks she did it again :) Ms Sivec has written another best seller!
I recieved an ARC copy for an honest review :)
The book starts off with sweet little Layla hanging out with her daddy. Enjoying the things he's teaching her with the guitar. Learning she's good at it and he has high hopes for her. She'd to anything to make him proud.
Until that tragic day when he passes away. Layla's life changes completely.
Being her mother's puppet, singing on stage isn't what she thought it would be.
Years after years of being the world's favorite Pop star, and her heart isn't in it. She's not singing what she wants to sing. Not dressing how she wants to dress, she's doing everything her mother tells her to do. Why? Because her mother has leverage dangling over Layla's head. So she's trapped.
When Layla starts getting some scary fan mail, Eve starts to take charge of Layla's safety.
Brady is a retired Navy SEAL - He's a big strong guy and knows how to do his job. But Brady fell on some really bad luck while he was serving his time, tragic loss of a lot of people fell on his hands.
When he came out of the Service, he tried his hand with the good people of the city , but even that had turned to tragedy.
Giving up on himself, letting the guilt build strongly in him, Brady started drinking, and drinking and drinking some more.
When his sister showed up on his porch with her daughter, abused and shattered, he took them in. Vowing he'd do whatever it took to keep them safe again.
The PI business is great, but Brady hasn't been getting that many jobs. So when the electricity is shut off, and the bills start running high, Brady knows it's time to except that one job he's been dreading.
He doesn't want to be a babysitter for a Pop Star looking for publicity. But they offered enough money, and even went up 20%, so he had no choice but to take the job.
When Brady first met Layla, his opinion of her identified. The way she looked at her mother for wanting to protect her made him cringe.
But what Brady didn't see the first time he saw her, he defiantly saw at the sound check.
Layla isn't the stuck up Pop Star he thought she was. There was more to her then he could see. And he wanted to know it all.
Layla kept her opinion to herself. She hid all her emotions inside and did exactly what was expected from her. It was only when no one was watching that her true colors came out.
The romance between these two was quick, but it was easy to see it happening. Both Brady and Layla have two different sides to themselves. One they show the world, and one they keep closely guarded. It's the unrevealing that you catch a gimps of here and there that makes it great to watch as these two start to fall for each other.
When things start to get hectic with her stalker, things really start to intensify :)
