Finale by Becca Fitzpatrick - Review

Finale (Hush, Hush, #4)Finale by Becca Fitzpatrick
Book 4 of the Hush Hush series
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

OMG! I bought the hardback book for the book signing in Provo - but I didn't have a babysitter so i didn't get to go.

I just went to put my book on the shelf with my other books, when I decided to see if there was a cover poster inside the cover like the one I got at last years signing... there isn't... but there IS a litter to Nora from Patch!!  How did I miss that!!!

Fates unfurl in the gripping conclusion to the New York Times bestselling Hush, Hush saga.

Nora is more certain than ever that she is in love with Patch. Fallen angel or no, he is the one for her. Her heritage and destiny may mean they are fated to be enemies, but there is no turning her back on him. Now Nora and Patch must gather their strength to face one last, perilous trial. Old enemies return, new enemies are made, and a friend's ultimate betrayal threatens the peace Patch and Nora so desperately want. The battle lines are drawn—but which sides are they on? And in the end, are there some obstacles even love can't conquer?

Jen's Review

SPOILERS FOR BOOK 1-3 below - if you haven't read those, don't read this review!!

Ok I know how much I love Hush Hush... Silence and Crescendo were good books, but Finale, now that was awesome!! I still think Hush Hush is my favorite, only because Patch gets too serious about Nora in the other books. he doesn't tease her, and I really loved that about Patch.

But the ending of this book! HOLY COW! First warning - about 88% into it, grab a box of tissue before you continue. but seriously - WOW! That was ... just yeah - that's as close to a spoiler as you're going to get from me :)

Ok the book starts off - ok first of all, the last 2 books from this series I was lost because it had been like a year since I read the book before - but in this book, I didn't get lost at all - Ms Fitzpatrick did a good job at back tracking what happened in the previous books without dragging it out and repeating everything - so I give it more stars for not losing me :)

So the book starts off the next day after the first book ended (BANG - gun fired)

Now Nora is immortal - a Nephilim to be exact, and she's sworn to lead the Nephilim army to war ... a war to what she wasn't specific about, so she's planning on leading them to a war of peace..

Hank Miller - Nora's biological father (the black hand) had planned on fighting the Fallen Angels, and gaining back control of their lives. Who could blame them?? Every year the fallen were able to possess the Nephilim, and do whatever they wanted with their bodies. And they wanted it to end.

So now we're at the next day after Nora's new promotion, and the higher up Nephilim were talking with Nora. They didn't trust her because she was still dating a Fallen Angel. But Nora had told them that she and Patch had called it quits, it was time for her to lead the Nephilim . But they still had their doubts. They wanted her to prove to them that she was capable of leading the Nephilim, or vote her out.. If she was voted out, she couldn't lead the army, if she didn't lead the army, she was good as dead!

Of course that was just the plan..

Hanging out with Vee at a club - ANYTHING to keep her mind off the promising events that she didn't want to think about anymore - determined to have fun, even though she couldn't be seen with Patch out in public anymore.
Dante showed up.. just what Nora needed.
Dante gave her some advice to get the Nephilim on her side. Let them think she was dating him.. he was well respected with the higher Up Nephilim because of his age and loyalties. he even offered to train Nora. Help her learn her new abilities as a Nephilim, so she could fight the fallen angels in the upcoming battle.

Patch didn't like the idea, but he trusted Nora. He knew how to keep tabs on her and make sure she was safe.

The first couple days of training with Date was hard on Nora. She had speed that she couldn't believe, but she still wasn't fast enough. Being born a human, and changed to a Nephilim. She still had the body of a human, and only a little increased abilities.

She worked hard though.
After her workout - Dante gave her a drink. She thought it was blue Gatorade, but it turns out it was Devilscraft.. it enhanced her speed, and her other abilities by a lot - but it was an addictive drug, and she refused to have any more of it...

That is until she got hooked.
Now Nora has to keep her secret, keep drinking the drug, and figure out a way to make the N Nephilim trust her. All the while, help Patch with the guy who wants to send him to hell, and why the heck did Marcie move in with Nora in the first place??

So much going on in this book - I'm really happy with the way this series ended. I'm sad to see them finished, though. Hopefully Ms. Fitzpatrick will have pity on us and give us a few extras here and there.

I know I'll be re-reading this series over and over again :)
