The Reluctant Bachelorette Giveaway

The Reluctant Bachelorette by Rachael Anderson

Unknowingly cast as the bachelorette for her town’s charity event, Taycee Emerson wants out. Especially when she discovers her old teenage crush, Luke Carney, is one of the bachelors and it's up to the viewers--not her--to decide which bachelors stay or go.

Coerced into participating, Taycee does what any self-preserving girl would do. She launches a subtle attack on Luke’s good name with the hope of getting him voted off the show. Unfortunately, Luke's an eye-for-an-eye kind of guy, and when he discovers what she's up to, it means revenge.

But when their pranks go south, will they screw up any chance they have at a future together, or will they be able to forgive and forget and prove that love really does conquer all?

Jen's Review

I use to watch the Bachelor TV show a few years ago. I've only seen the first season, but I really enjoyed it.. after that, it got a little too fake for me, but the first show was great.
This book reminded me a lot like the first show.

The little town of Shelter is starting to get swallowed up by the big chain industries that is taking over the world. Those small town businesses and farms are starting to go under.
Well Jassa isn't going to let her grandparents lose their farm, or any of the other farmers in Shelter Springs -
She has come up with a way to raise the $50,000 that's needed to pay off their ..taxes?

For a couple of months, she has been busy getting things set up.. now it's just time to talk to Taycee .. her BFF -

Taycee is a small town girl, and she loves living in her lonely world.. *ahem* sorry got the song stuck in my head :D
When Taycee was 14, Her brother's and her Best friend Luke left Shelter to go to college, with the promise to call and keep in touch.. only he didn't. She was only 14 years old, but she loved Luke like she was the same age as him. And even though he didn't love her back. She always thought he was still her friend.. which made it worse when he left.
A few years later, Her brother Celeb left for College, then her parents decided they wanted a change and retired to Florida. Leaving Taycee alone in Shelter..
Taycee did get out for a little bit, she went to college, but she loved Shelter Springs, so she came back. She started her own floral business and is became pretty successful. Everything was finally right... Only, she couldn't find anyone to heal her broken heart.

When Jessa came into the floral shop to talk to Taycee, Taycee was a little spaced out. She had just broken things off with Pat. He wasn't the man for her.
Jessa mentioned that Luke was back in town. He decided to come back to Shelter Springs and start his own Veterinary clinic.
That news floored Taycee so much, she didn't even care why she agreed to Jessa's favor.

At the Town Meeting, Jessa pitched her ideas, and let the town know it's already underway. She started up an internet reality show. The Bachelorette. One girl from Shelter Springs, and 20 guys from around the country. The guys all knew this was volunteer to raise money, so they are paying their own way. Donations have already started rolling in.
When asked who the Bachelorette was, Jessa being sly told everyone to go home and look it up on the computer. The more hits the website got, the more donations they'd get.
The town decided it might be fun to have an eligible Bachelor from their home town to add to the show. They started taking nominees, but when Taycee nominated Luke.. they all agreed.

When Taycee found out she was the Bachelorette, she freaked out! But after a few choice words with Jessa, she agreed that the farmers needed the money, and that was the ONLY reason. But now Taycee had a problem.. she'd have to go on a date with Luke!

The only way to clear up this mess was to get Luke voted off.

Like I said, Really cute story - I enjoyed the romance, and I really love when childhood friends grow up and realize they're meant for each other.
I felt bad for the Bachelors that were in the end, though. They all seemed like really good guys.

Fun story all the way around :D
