Retraining the sub by Jennifer Denys

Retraining the Sub (Battle of Wills, #1)Retraining the Sub by Jennifer Denys

When submissive Ann misuses her safe word once too often she is told to attend a retraining program. However, the only Master prepared to train her is hard, inflexible Luke, the man she jilted eight years previously.

Dominated by her parents, shy Ann left home because there was something missing in her life she wasn’t getting from her sweet fiancĂ©, as he was then, and is introduced to BDSM.

Shocked to see each other at the club, but stunned at how they’ve both changed, Ann has to be trained by Luke, or leave. It becomes a battle of wills to see who will lose control—the battle being about trust. Can Ann give up control and trust a Master? Can Luke trust Ann not to run away again? The emotional victory for each battle flies back and forth between them. Who will ultimately win?

Juls Review

After reading a review by a friend I rushed to the author for a copy of this book. But after I started reading it I was confused. Don’t get me wrong, I really loved this story. It was about trust and love that should have been before the “I do’s” came. But Ann and Luke were so young and thought they were doing the right thing by getting married at the age of 18.

What confused me was the fact that after Ann had a moment of clarity and left Luke at the altar, she started a life of a sub. Only she really wasn’t. I had a hard time believing that a Master would allow her to go on this way for so long, for years, without telling her this isn’t for her.

But even with all this I really enjoyed Ann and Luke’s story. They both needed this time to heal the hurt and misunderstandings so they could both move forward. Ann is truly a sub but that didn’t come to light until someone she loved and trusted masters her and Master Luke may have been the Dom that punished other subs harshly was only trying to beat the hurt out of him.

Ann and Luke didn’t make things easy for each other but with every new training their roles played out to make a sweet HEA.

Jen's Review

Great story! I learn so much about the BDSM lifestyle with every book i read - I still don't have the guts to give it a try.... but I sure do love reading about it.

This book was no different. Luke is a Master, he is starting to get tired of this lifestyle though. At first he found it refreshing to punish the women who wanted it. After all, he was able to picture that one woman who left him at the altar sometime ago. it helped him a lot. But now it just wasn't doing it for him.

Master Sean asked Luke to help them out with retraining - either Sub or Dom's. Master Luke wasn't sure if he would take the job... until he saw her...

Ann was looking for more in her life.. she had been in the BDSM scene for years, but it's too hard for her to give up all her control. After all, her parents did everything they could to control her when she was a kid. But she wasn't a Domme either. She didn't want to Dominate anyone.
Actually she didn't really have any idea why she liked the BDSM as much as she did.. in fact, whenever she tried it out with other Dom's, she had to call out her safe word before the scene got too intense. All the Dom's were afraid to approach her, because she never let them finish!

Unable to understand the whole meaning of the lifestyle, Master Sean told Ann it was time to take the retraining course, or leave the club.
Ann wasn't too happy about these choices. She knew that re-training would mean she couldn't use her safe word and not get kicked out.. but when she saw WHO would be retraining her, she couldn't help but wonder how Luke would be in this lifestyle...

Ann learns more then the BDSM rules and ways in this book. She learns that Trust is the main issue in any type of Dom/sub relationship. She learns that giving up her control on the situation, can be pleasurable.

Awesome story. Loved these two together :D
