Charade by Nyrae Dawn

CharadeCharade by Nyrae Dawn
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Nineteen-year-old Cheyenne tries to portray the perfect life to mask the memories of her past. Walking in on her boyfriend with another woman her freshman year in college threatens that picture of perfection.

Twenty-one-year-old Colt never wanted college and never expected to amount to anything, but when his mom's dying wish is for him to get his degree, he has no choice but to pretend it's what he wants too.

Cheyenne needs a fake boyfriend to get back at her ex and Colt needs cash to take care of his mom, so they strike a deal that helps them both. But what if Cheyenne’s past isn’t what she thought? Soon they’re trading one charade for another—losing themselves in each other to forget about their pain. The more they play their game, the more it becomes the only thing they have that feels real.

Both Cheyenne and Colt know life is never easy, but neither of them expect the tragedy that threatens to end their charade and rip them apart forever.

Mature content: language, drug references and sexual situations.

Juls Review
Cheyenne's first 9 years of her life were miserable but 10 years later she thinks she got it all. A great home life with her aunt and uncle and a great boyfriend she's had for a few years. Her life comes tumbling down when she walks in on Gregory with someone else.

It was never supposed to be more than a "fake" relationship. Cheyenne just wanted someone to be by her side to show Gregory his betrayal didnt affect her but the more time she spent with Colt the more the fakeness became reality.

Colt was too much on his plate to cater to a "princess" but thats exactly what he does. His mom is dying and his extra circular activities arent up to par so when Cheyenne offers money to be her fake boyfriend he reluctantly jumps on it.

The more time they spend together the more they get to know each other and they both realize they are more than they appear. Cheyenne isnt the "princess" Colts labeled her and Colt is just a druggy partier.

Together Cheyenne finds a way to open up and Colt slowly lets someone else in to help shoulder his load.

a lil angst and ending with love made for a great read :)
