Just for Now (Sea Breeze #4) by Abbi Glines

Just for Now (Sea Breeze #4)Just for Now by Abbi Glines
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The day Preston Drake figured out that wealthy women paid well for a set of tight abs and a pretty face his life turned around.

The run down rat-infested trailer he had shared with his alcoholic mother and three younger siblings was now only a place he visited to pay the bills and stock the pantry with food.

He no longer worried about his family starving or living without electricity. The money he made entertaining rich older women more than covered his family’s needs and his own. He had it all figured out. Except…

There was this girl.

She was as innocent as he was tainted.

Amanda Hardy wished her knees didn’t get weak when Preston walked into a room. She hated the fact her heart raced when he flashed his smile in her direction. He had a different girl in his bed every night. He was the kind of boy a smart girl ran from. So, why was she coming up with ways to get close to him? Even when it was obvious he wanted to keep her at a distance.

Maybe her heart knew something the world didn’t. Maybe Preston Drake was more than just a pretty face.

Juls Review
I've been looking forward to Preston's story ever since he made googly eyes at Amanda in While it Lasts. I have to say this far exceeded my standards. So much angst and so much sexy times which equaled 5+ stars!

Preston was brought up poor, like dirt poor. But now he's got money and thinks he's got everything he's ever wanted. He doesnt really do much beside go to school and play ball. Oh and he's a gigolo and good at it too. He makes really good money but that money he earns comes with a price.

Amanda has secretly loved Preston since she was 16. 2 years later and she wants more than just longing looks. She wants the whole package. But that package is flawed and in so many ways. She may love the person she sees but the person inside has so many secrets.

Preston knows he's not good enough for Amanda. He's trailer trash. His mom's a junkie and as dirty as the money is he needs it to support his siblings.

Regardless of the struggle and reservations they have about being together love brings them peace and in the end they find what really makes them happy.

I have to say that only one thing bothered me about this book, it wasnt long enough. It almost felt abrupt when it ended :(

Jen's Review

I have been rushing through books for reviews all week knowing this was on my kindle waiting for me... It took me less than a day to read this book, and I'm SO glad I finally got to!

Preston, in the other Sea Breeze books, has been a total player. Never giving any thought to anyone as more than an easy lay...

In this book, we learn the truth about Preston... His family means more to him than his own body does.
Growing up, Preston didn't have anyone to help him. His father was gone, his mother always drunk or high. He had known no other way. He never brought his friends home, and tried to blend in the best he could.

Now he has 2 younger brothers and a sister who need his help. His mother was still the worse mother alive, but he knew he'd never be granted custody of his bothers and sister. So he did the best thing for them he knew how. He paid the bills, and brought them food. And he did whatever he had to do to get the money to do it.

Amanda, is Marcus's brother- Marcus is busy planning his wedding with Low, and Amanda is helping.
About 3 months before, Manda got together with Preston. She didn't realize at the time that Preston was so drunk he wouldn't even remember it.

3 months later, Amanda is getting tired of Preston shooting her down. She knew he wasn't going to fall in love with her after their one time, but he didn't have to treat her like crap!

Preston was seriously losing it. He didn't know why, but the dreams he was having with Amanda staring in them was freaking him out. She started flirting with him more than usual, and the only way to keep himself from acting on it was to keep shooting her down. He hated acting like an ass, but he knew she deserved someone better than him.

When Amanda finally confronts Preston about that night, Preston is disgusted with himself. He couldn't believe he had sex with Manda and didn't know about it! He thought it was a dream!
Slowly the pieces of that night started coming back to him.. and he wanted nothing more than to make things right with her.

The only thing standing in their way now... Marcus.

Amanda loved her brother, and Marcus was pretty good about giving her space, but he knew how many girls Preston went through in a week, and they both knew that Marcus would kill Preston if he even knew he was thinking of Amanda.

It wasn't until Preston's little sister got sick. Amanda saw the concern in his eyes he got the phone call, and she insisted on coming along to help. She was scared for Preston. She had never seen him so afraid.

Amanda took charge in helping with his little sister and brothers. And in Preston's eyes, there was no one else on this earth that had ever helped him like this. He would do anything to keep her in his life. Even if it meant letting his best friend beat him up.

When things calmed down and Amanda found out about Preston's family life. He heart softened even more, by knowing how much he loved his siblings.

I have to admit, Preston has got some of the greatest Siblings in the world. Daisy Mae has got to be the sweetest 7 year old in the world. And Jimmy, 11 years old going on 20 - that kid has heart. and then Brent, just 8 years old and wanting to make something of himself. These kids are sweet, and Preston is even sweeter.
I think these two will go far in life :)

Really excited to read about Jason Stone, next ... You'll meet him in this story. He seems like a really good guy :)
