Awe - Loved this book!
Jaxxon was an awesome character! I love how strong she is!
There has only been three people in Jaxxon Carter's life who truly mattered to her. Her mum, who committed suicide. Her sister, who she hasn’t seen since her teens. And Connor McKenzie, who disappeared from her life the same day he left their foster home. The hardest part of that was that he never completely left her life because she was forever seeing him on T.V. or in magazines as a Formula One Driver. But Jaxxon refuses to live a ‘woe is me’ life, even in spite of living alone in her one-roomed flat and being expected to survive on a ridiculously low income. Then one night she is offered a modelling job and before she knows it she has been catapulted to the peak of success, gaining fame, fortune and security. Oh and a stalker.
Connor McKenzie is busy trying to shake off his crazy ex-girlfriend – another woman who thought she could get around his no marriage rule – when he sees Jaxxon on the cover of a magazine. Remembering how close they had once been, he’s shocked when she doesn’t respond to his attempts to contact her and then acts indifferently to him when they meet. But Connor can’t let it go. The only reason he had kept his hands off her ten years ago was that she had been younger than him. Now that they’re adults, he isn’t prepared to allow anything – not even Jaxxon – to stop him from having her.
Warning: This novel contains a bitchy female who curses like a sailor, a persistent alpha male who doesn’t understand the word ‘no’, and explicit hot sex in some very public places.
Jen's Review
Growing up Jaxxon had a pretty crappy life. Living in foster care didn't make her a bad person, but it added to her personality. It made her strong and challenging.
The book starts off with her 14 year old self was saying goodbye to her 16 year old sister. Her sister was a selfish person. Trying to keep herself in the spotlight, while putting everyone else down.
Jaxxon didn't see her for what she was though. She was all she had left. And she knew that once her sister walked out the door, she wouldn't see her again.. just like with Conner. The best friend she had in the care.
When he turned 16 and left, but promised to keep in touch.. she was expecting it.. until her sister told her that she was going to see Conner and they were going to get back together... Jaxxon's 14 year old heart was crushed.
Skipping head 8 years, Jaxxon living in a crappy flat, working in a crappy bar, getting hit on by old crappy men - her life was pretty crappy, but she was doing everything on her own. She has excepted the past as something she could never change, so she just went with it.
One thing about Jaxxon was she spoke her mind. Whatever it was, she let you know. And didn't care if it pissed you off either.
That's where she met Ritchie. Ritchie was looking for the new face for his new cosmetics line. He didn’t' want a real model. He wanted someone real. Someone who didn't give a crap about anything, but had the look of someone who could pull it off...
And Jaxxon had those eyes.. those pissed off smoldering eyes.
Ritchie approached her and, even though she didn't see herself as a model, she wasn't one to turn away an opportunity to get herself out of the flat she was in, and away from the people around her.
When she met Ollie, Ritchie's partner, they both fell instantly in love with her. They felt the need to protect her from everything... And they pretty much became the only family she had.
After only a few weeks, couple months, her face was on the cover of a magazine.
Now lets meet Conner. Conner grew up in Care just like Jaxxon did. Only Conner didn't let anyone into his life.. and getting Anita out of his life was harder then he thought it would be. She just wouldn't LEAVE! She told the tabloids that they were engaged and he was pissed. She told his best friend's wife that she was planning on getting herself pregnant so that he HAD to marry her... but that backfired in her face when she found out about it.
When she showed him a photo of the two of them together, telling him how good they looked together, he threw the magazine at her feet, but not before seeing the picture of the only person he ever cared about on the cover.. WTH .... Jaxx is a model now??
He couldn't get her out of his mind, she he gave her a call, but she didn't return his call.. why?
When they both turned up at the same Charity event, they were caught in each other’s gazes across the room. and the sexual tension between the two was so strong, everyone stopped to look. As Conner approached Jaxxon, she held her ground. She didn't want to get close to him again. She knew she could easily fall in love with him. But Conner didn't do love. and she knew it would be a mistake to try.
The tabloids had a field day with the pictures they took of the two of them looking in each other’s eyes. Conner was a famous F1 driver. and Jaxxon was the new face on ever cover. Both of them weren't afraid to tell it how it is, and no one would ever think either of them would find their true match... until they saw them together.
Loved this book - Their personalities were so much alike, and yet so different. Conner was defiantly the caveman type of guy who was use to getting what he wanted... but was he ready to give his heart away??
Juls Review
Its official! Jaxxon is my now Fav female lead. She was amazing! I loved her attitude to life, love, relationships, and just everything. She doesn’t bow down to anyone. Not even the hunky love of her life, Connor.
Those two had the worst kind of childhood but like the title they went From Rags to Celebs. But the best part about them was they never left themselves from who they really are, they were real. Yeah Connor might have had his share of women but Jaxxon and Conner were grounded, at least I thought so.
This book had it all, an evil bitch out to get revenge, a stalker, a horrible and tragic past for both of them, lots of angst and AMAZING I cant get enough of you and I cant live without you kinda sex. Their attraction was always ready to burst and when they finally came together all you could really do was sit back and go with it cuz the ride was up and down and upside down!
LOVED LOVED this book!
