***Warning*** (This book contains several aspects of the uglier side of life; it is not for everyone.)
The story of Deuce and Eva...
An undeniable connection that stands the test of time.
Unforgettable moments.
Love and pain and everything in between.
I was five years old when I met Deuce, he was twenty-three, and it was visiting day at Riker's Island. My father, Damon Fox or "Preacher", the President of the infamous "Silver Demon's" motorcycle club -mother chapter- in East Village, New York City, was doing a five-year stint for aggravated assault and battery with a deadly weapon. It was not the first time my father had been in prison and it wouldn't be the last. The Silver Demon's MC was a notorious group of criminals who lived by the code of the road and gave modern society and all it entailed a great big f**k you.
"Never forget the day Eva came bouncin' into my f**ked up life, shakin' pigtails, singin' Janis, wearin’ chucks and sharin' peanuts and straight up stole any decency I had left which wasn't a whole lot but she f**kin' took it and I've been hers ever since."
Jen's Review
Ok this book was HIGHLY recommended to me by Juls. She had told me before hand to read the reviews on Goodreads before reading it. So I did..(her review has spoilers so I posted mine first. Hope that's ok Juls :)
After reading about all the creepy things that Deuce did, I tried reading it in a different perspective.
Instead, when Eva was talking about how they met, she was 5 and he was 19 , Deuce didn't think creepy things about wanting to screw around with a 5 year old girl. He was respectful, and drawn to her. And she was drawn to him. In a way her 5 year old little mind didn't understand.
To some people that might be gross, but I started thinking about Twilight. *Groan* I know - I know - but if you remember in the book - and ok the movie, too - Jake was talking to Bella about Imprinting. And Jake DID imprint with a newborn baby! So why wasn't it sick for him?? Because it wasn't sexual, it was a draw to each other. Jake is whatever Reneesmy needed him to be.. a Friend, a Brother, A protector, and when she's ready, a lover -
So I was thinking the same thing with this book - Eva and Deuce were drawn together in a way they didn't know what it meant. Ok yeah Deuce isn't a werewolf, but still... When I read a book, I want to believe Fate exists DAMN IT!!!
Ok so back to the book. when 5 year old Eva meets Deuce for the first time, she is sweet, and innocent. Even though she's been born and raised into the dead center of a gang/mafia type thing. Her father the leader/president and her the sheltered, spoiled by everyone else princess of the MC! And she loved everyone! She was a happy little girl.
Deuce wasn't a happy guy, he was the VP of the horsemen MC? His father in jail, meant that Deuce was in charge of everything. His father was a miserable man and made Deuce's life miserable. So when he sees this 5 year old little girl, she so innocently takes his hand and leads him over to his father. And to see his father smile for the first time ever at this little girl, he was amazed at her. And when he was leaving, she walked up to him and shared her peanuts with him. Not because she wanted something in return, but because she was being nice to him. No one had ever done that.
A few years later, when Eva is 12 Fate sets them up again. She is starting to fill into her body, but she is still a little kid. Now yes that might be disturbing, but again, thinking of why Fate is bringing these guys together. They talk and laugh and she comforts him in a way no one has ever done before. Thinking again of Twilight. He's being her friend. And when he tells her she's a pretty girl, I don't think it was anything sexual involved in that statement, he was just stating a fact. That he thought she was pretty. And she would grow into a beautiful woman some day.
And that someday happened a few years later when they met up again.. age 16 Eva has finally turned into a beautiful woman.. but 16 to his 34 was still a big gap.
But the book wasn't all about their age, it was about them - Eva growing up seeing everything, the Club Whores, the drinking and drugs. And Deuce was right there in the middle of it. Yes he had sex with women, A LOT of women, and he drank and killed people. He was the head of the Horseman's Gang! He did what he had to do to survive.
But then we throw in Frankie - Eva's Fake Brother.. I wont go into detail about Frankie because he's really a screwed up guy and I didn't like him at all :)
So All and all I really did enjoy this book. Probably more than I would have if I read it blind without knowing about how everyone loved the book but hated it while they were reading it. I could totaly see how everyone would have hated it at first. But if you keep reading, because really there is no good place to stop reading this book, it will suck you in and drag you down with these people.
I really enjoyed getting to know the life of the Mafia/MC/Gang (whatever it was called :) )

Juls Review
My advice: Read this book completely through before making any judgements. Will you hate Deuce in the beginning middle and end? YEP but dont make up your mind about him until the end. Me personally I thought Eva deserved so much better than any of the guys she was with, as a willing participant or not. But at the same time the type of men she chose she knew what they were like. She knows that "old lady" or not those guys cant keep in their pants. Everyone's fair game and you better hope you are prepared for heartbreak or have someone else on the side.
SPOILER ALERT!!!!
READ AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!
I really had a hard time at first with the age difference, 18 fucking years! and the first time they were together? eeeek! she was only 16 and he was 34, yeah do the math and yep statutory rape! And what did Deuce get in return for that? 2 bullets, may have been well deserved.
Fast forward 2 years and Eva's out with her best friend Kami and she meets Deuce again and she gets deflowered, in an alley with the rain fallin down on them. She's wanted him so bad for so long and it may hurt since its her first time but she doesnt care. He fuckin takes it and loves every second of it.
The next few years Eva's play brother Frankie becomes her constant. Their relationship moves from brotherly sisterly love to the next step. She's his and he will do anything and everything to keep her. His infatuation for her is not of the norm but she wants to fix him and thinks this is the only way, so she allows his brutal way of handling her.
Eva's now almost in her 30's has once again crossed paths with Deuce. He and his crew have come after Frankie for retribution for the scars he left on Ripper. Deuce ends up with a gun to his head by Frankie and Deuce's world comes to a halt when Frankie reveals that if he dies Eva dies. She is married to Frankie and his wedding present to her was a hit on her. If he dies she gets popped. The best way out, use the warrants Frankie has. This will give him and his guys enough time to track down who was paid for the hit.
While this shit is going on Chase a hoity toity lawyer that is married to Kami and has a secret fantasy to be the love of Eva's life, now has his way in to get what he's been wanting since they were in school. Eva needs Chase to get Frankie out so she agrees to let him do unmentionable and despicable things with him.
Deuce of course finds out what is up with that and ends it but Frankie take it upon himself to make Chase really pay.
Eva now with the love of her life has given up everything to be with him. But the fuck up he is leaves her to her own devices and is fucking around on her once again. He's got the girl and he wants to eat the fucking cake too! It takes her ending up in the hospital for him to realize that she really is his and he needs to get his act together.
Things settle......
Frankie is on the loose and The HEA that Eva wants so fucking close she can taste it. Frankie might have been on Deuce's territory but no one knew he was there to break the big bad Deuce. Him witnessing his love being rape right before his eyes does him in.
Frankie was completely fucked in the head but Eva is the only one who can settle him down and with the final noncon rape she is able to escape.
Even as fucked up as everything and everyone was in this book I fucking loved every minute of it!!!
