Wreck Me (Wreck Me #1) by J.L. Mac

Wreck Me (Wreck Me, #1)Wreck Me by J.L. Mac
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Life can be cruel. People can be ruthless and evil. The world can be cold and uninviting. No one knows these things better than Josephine Geroux. By her own definition, she is a twenty-five year old “nobody with nothing,” and she is content to stay that way. Growing up an orphan has made her tough and indifferent to the people around her until she meets a strangely familiar man with a face that haunts her for reasons she can’t understand.

Despite the pain that will inevitably ensue, she makes it her mission to discover what parts of her tragic puzzle she is missing. On her journey to discovering why the she feels an alarming connection to an absolute stranger, her greatest fear is reawakening the demons and darkness from the past that will surely overtake her if she lets her guard down.

Little does Josephine know that the past should be the least of her worries. She is toying with a man who has already broken her heart once. She just doesn’t realize it.
Although she makes it a point to avoid interactions with others, Josephine’s life becomes entangled with the enigmatic stranger. Before she realizes it, she has given herself over to the one person who is close enough to wreck her.

Juls Review:

Nothing is ever what they seem and Jo having the shittiest life ever should have known this.
Lost her family by the age of 9 and then by 12 on the streets, homeless and alone. Its hardened her and she doesnt take crap from anyone.

Jo has turned her life around. She is no longer homeless. She has a job and a roof over her head. Her job is her everything. Someone tries to steal a book from her bookstore and she wont have it so she stops him. In the process she ends up meeting Damon Cole. He is every womans sexual desire packaged in a nice suit. He is domineering and overwhelming and even though Jo feels like he's taking away her independence she loves the way he takes care of her.

Damon is a man who gets what he wants but this firecracker of a woman throws him off his axises. When he finds out who she really is his world starts to crumble and he doesnt know what to do except to make her permanently his. But like every love story something has to go wrong and this one doesnt disappoint.

Past sins are resurfaced and that new found love is in jeopardy. Will Jo forgive and what will happen to Damon? I cant wait to find out in the next installment.

Jen's Review:

Well that cliffhanger was pretty predictable... somewhat - I'm looking forward to the next book though

This whole book was pretty predictable through-out it as well. You could see everything leading up to the ending - but it was pretty good.

Jo had a rough life - at the age of 9, she was in a car accident with her parents. Her parents didn't make it, she did.

In and out of foster homes, not the good kind of homes either, she did what she had to in order to survive. When she was 12, she had enough of the abuse, and lived her life on the streets. Homeless, hungry, it was hard. But she found comfort in the library where she would spend her time reading and trying to help herself grow.

When she was 18, she got a job at a book store, and she was finally able to rent an apartment, a bed, and eat a few meals a day. She worked hard, and was careful with what she had. She only loved 3 things, Her mom and papa, and her job.

Her boss was a jerk, but they had a kind of love/hate relationship.
But more than anything, she loved the books. So that day when someone came into the store and tried to steel one of the books, she knew what she had to do.

Stopping the thief, and chasing him off, she runs into another guy. This one with a familiarity in his eyes that she couldn't place.

Damon *sigh* his life wasn't all money and models either. Damon worked hard in his life. He had a lot to deal with growing up, and life wasn't fair to him either.

He took matters in his own hand and turned his life around.
When he ran into Jo that afternoon, he looked into her eyes and felt that same familiarity. But it wasn't just that familiarity that drew him to her. He was her one - that one that made him whole. And Damon was going to do whatever it too to make things right with Josephine, and make her love him.

The challenge of Jo loving Damon wasn't really a challenge. It was a given.
Cute story - and even though I can see where the next book is going, I'm still looking foward to reading it :)
