Sophie's Turn
Date to be Published: 9/6/12
Publisher: Sapphire Star Publishing
Synopsis:
Slapper. Slut. Adulteress. These are hardly words that Sophie Penhalligan would normally use to describe herself. And yet this is exactly how she is behaving, all things considered, even if she isn’t quite married to Tim yet. Aged nineteen, she travelled halfway across the country to honour an invitation by her favourite rock band, Tusk, to join them for the last gig of their tour. And now her past is coming to tempt her... How could Tim ever stand a chance against Dan, the charming, handsome lead-singer? How could she?
Rock On! Nicky Wells writes fun and glamorous contemporary romance featuring a rock star
and the girl next door. Her debut novel, Sophie’s Turn, is the first part in her Rock Star Romance
Trilogy. Not unlike Sophie, her heroine, Nicky loves rock music, dancing, and eating lobsters.
When she’s not writing, Nicky is a wife, mother, and teaching assistant. Nicky is also a featured
author on the innovative reader/author project, loveahappyending.com.
Originally born in Germany, Nicky moved to the United Kingdom in 1993, and currently lives
in Bristol with her husband and two boys. In a previous professional life, Nicky worked as a
researcher and project manager for an international Human Resources research firm based in London and Washington, D.C.

Jen's review
When I first saw
this book all I saw were the words ROCK STAR!
I’m a HUGE fan of
these types of books -
But when I started
reading the book, the first part tells about Dan asking Sophie to marry him...
but she's already engaged to Tim?? WTH!?
Don't worry, she
doesn't leave us wondering for long.
We get a flashback
to when Sophie's life just started to get complicated.
Tim, her current
boyfriend of 2 years. She was ready for MORE - but he was comfortable where
they were. They didn't have much in common, but things WERE comfortable between
the two.
But then there's
Sophie's BFF Rachelle. Rachelle doesn't like Tim, she can see there isn't a big
spark between the two. She knows Tim isn't her "forever" but
Sophie doesn't want to hear it from Rachelle, they've agreed to disagree.
On their 2 year
anniversary, Tim shows up late to dinner, Forgets why they're there in the
first place, then criticizes her gift to him?? Yeah, she's pissed, but he does
a sweet thing to help her forget what an ass he is.
A couple weeks
later, Sophie gets a job out in New York. She is a journalist, and has to
follow the stories.
When she's at the airport, waiting in line for her ticket, she sees a man in line a little ways from her. She notices his guitar. He won’t look up, and it starts to frustrate her to no end.
When she's at the airport, waiting in line for her ticket, she sees a man in line a little ways from her. She notices his guitar. He won’t look up, and it starts to frustrate her to no end.
She has little flashbacks from when she was 19 and crashed Tusk's Rock Concert, and found her way back stage with the band members.
After a while, she
recognizes him as one of the band members.
And he remembers
her! He goes on telling her what they're up to now, and told her to come to
their next gig in London to see the rest of the guys.
A bout a week
after she gets back from New York, she notices an ad in the paper that the guys
will be playing locally.
She goes.
Seeing the guys
again brings up a lot of memories, and seeing Dan again, she couldn't help but
feeling like a star struck teenager all over again.
She tells Dan that
she's is seeing someone. And he understands. But that doesn't mean they can't
be friends.. right?
A few weeks later
Tim finally proposes. After 2 years. Sophie is excited by the idea of finally
getting married J
When Dan shows up
the day before their engagement party, she can't help but feel sad. She told
Dan that Tim had asked her to marry him, so of course she couldn't go out on
date with him.. But... if Dan decided he wanted to take her out for a congratulations
dinner, that would be ok. Right?
They go to the
fancy Royal restaurant, and after a flirtatious dinner, they find their way to
the suit that Dan conveniently has in the hotel.
Sophie doesn’t feel guilty at all, even though she knows she
should. What does that tell her?
At the engagement party, things are finally starting to feel ok,
until she notices who Rachelle is talking to.. How did Dan find his way to her engagement
party?
The next day,
Sophie's boss calls her into his office and lets her know that she will be
going on Tour with Tusk for their coming back tour and will be featuring a
column in their small town newspaper.
Sophie knows Dan had to have gotten the job for her. But she didn’t
know if it was because he was trying to help her career, or if he truly thought
he was going to spend more time with her.. even though she’s engaged to Tim.
But alas, she doesn’t get the choice. Her boss tells her she goes, she better
go.
Tim trusts Sophie,
and tells her it's the job of a lifetime. Rachelle is besides herself and is
completely excited and jealous of Sophie.
Sophie knows she
isn't going to have the strength to stay away from Dan.. and she doesn't want
to hurt Tim either.
Working things out with Rachelle, she goes on the tour, and
whatever happens, she’ll deal with after the tour.
How does Sophie
learn to deal with her feelings for Dan, and Tim? And still keep her
sanity?
Loved the story.
no matter what you think about being faithful to the one you care about,
this story is truly worth the read. I promise you won’t hate Sophie as much as
you want to in the end :)
Looking forward to book 2 that comes out in Feb 2013 J
